Biochem/physiol Actions

DBA has anti-A1 human blood group specificity, useful for distinguishing between A1 and A2 blood types. DBA has strong anti-Cad activity, and has an affinity for terminal N-acetyl-α-D-galactosaminyl residues. Conjugates are prepared from affinity purified lectin.

Preparation Note

Prepared from peroxidase type VI (P8375) using a modification of the method of O′Sullivan, which favors low molecular weight conjugates.

Other Notes

One unit will form 1 mg purpurogallin in 20 sec from pyrogallol at pH 6.0 at 20 °C.
