Description

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protein L binds immunoglobulins from a variety of sources primarily through κ light chain interactions without interfering with the antigen binding site of Igs. This means that Protein L binds to a wider range of Ig classes and subclasses from a variety of species than any other commercially available Ig binding protein. It contains four Ig binding domains (B-domains). Protein L does not bind to bovine, sheep or goat immunoglobulins. Protein L-Peroxidase Conjugate may be used for the detection of IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE and IgD containing κ light chains. It may be used to detect Fab and scFv fragments containing κ light chains.

Preparation Note

Prepared with recombinant protein L conjugated to horseradish peroxidase using glutaraldehyde coupling chemistry.

Specificity

Binds Igs with κ light chain only. Does not bind λ light chain.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 mM phosphate bufferered saline, pH 7.2, containing 50% glycerol.
