Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions are available for this Product.

Components

This product is formulated to contain 5,000 units penicillin and 5 mg streptomycin/mL solubilized in a proprietary citrate buffer.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Mode of Action: Penicillin-Streptomycin acts in two ways. Penicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. Streptomycin inhibits prokaryote protein synthesis by preventing the transition from initiation complex to chain-elongating ribosome, causing miscoding.

Application

Penicillin-Streptomycin is used to supplement cell culture media to control bacterial contamination. It is recommended for use in cell culture applications at 10 mL/L.
