Description
Analysis Note
The positively-charged protein, lyzoyme (pI=11), exhibits excellent peak shape and recovery on Discovery BIO GFC columns due to its highly-inert surface. Low protein recovery is usually attributed to 1) hydrophobic interactions with the stationary phase and 2) electrostatic interactions with the silica suface. Discovery BIO GFC surface is hydrophilic and densely bonded to silica, therefore providing high mass recovery and good peak shape.
