Application
rCBD-Protein L is a genetically engineered fusion protein and thus a bifunctional reagent. Protein L binds immunoglobulins (Ig) very tightly; CBD (Cellulose Binding Proteins) bind tightly and specifically to cellulose
General description
Recombinant protein L from Peptostreptococus magnus was fused to a 17 kD CBD (cellullose binding domain). The fusion protein is expressed in E. coli. The rCBD domain has a strong affinity to cellulose through hydrophobic interactions (stable between pH 2-10). The protein L-domain has four immunoglobulin (Ig) binding sites and it binds Ig primarily through kappa light chain interactions (without interfering with the antigen binding site). rCBD-Protein L binds Ig from human, mouse, rat, hamster and pig with high affinity. Ig from rabbit, chicken, guinea pig, dog and horse are bound with lower affinity. rCBD-Protein L does not bind to Ig from bovine, sheep or goat origin.
Packaging
The package size relates only to the protein (excluding the matrix).
