Application
BHK 21, clone 13 is a subclone of the parent line derived from five 1-day-old unsexed hamster kidneys (Virology 1962;16:147). This clone is used extensively for virus replication studies i.e. poliovirus, rabies, foot and mouth disease, VSV (Indiana strain), herpes simplex, Ad25 and arboviruses.
Subculture: Split at 70-80% confluency, approx. 1:3 to 1:6 (2-4 × 104 cells/cm2) Trypsinize using 0.25 % solution with EDTA, 37 °C and 5% CO2.
Recommended culture medium: GMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 5% Tryptose Phosphate Broth + 5-10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
