WEHI 164 Cell Line from mouse 

Established from a fibrosarcoma induced by subcutaneous injection of methylcholanthrene in BALB/c mice. Highly sensitive after pre-treatment with actinomycin D to human cytotoxic monocytes, tumor necrosis factor, and lymphotoxin. It provides convenient target cells for short-term shromium release assays.

Recommended culture medium: DMEM + 2 mM L-Glutamine + 15% FBS

Subculture: Spit at 70-80% confluency, approx. 1:3 to 1:6, seed at 1-3 × 10⁴ viable cells/cm²). Trypsinize using 0.25% solution, with or without EDTA, 37 ^oC and 5% CO₂.
