OE19 Cell Line human 

Recommended culture medium: RPMI-1640 + 2 mM L-Glutamine + 10% FBS

The cell line was established in 1993 from an adenocarcinoma of gastric cardia/esophageal gastric junction of a 72-year-old male patient. The tumor was identified as pathological stage III (UICC) and showed moderate differentiation. The line expresses HLA-A, -B, and -C antigens (MCH class I) constituitively. Treatment with γ-interferon induced the expression of ICAM-1 (CD54). Expression of HLA-DR (MHC class II) upon γ-interferon addition was only measured in a sub-population of OE19. The cells express epithelial cytokeratins and are tumorigenic in nude mice.

Subculture: Split at 70-80% confluency, approx. 1:8, seed at 1X10⁴ viable cells/cm². Trypsinize using 0.25% solution, with or without EDTA, 37^oC and 5% CO₂.
