Analysis Note
The sensitivity is <0.27 ng/mL of STAT1, which is 4x more sensitive than immunoblotting. Linear regression yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.99.
Application
The assay is designed to detect and quantify the level of STAT1.
Biochem/physiol Actions
STAT1, a member of the STAT family of proteins, controls the transcription of specific genes in response to cytokine stimulation. STAT1 mediates apoptotic signals from interferon γ stimulation and may modulate anti-apoptotic signaling arising from NF-κB.
General description
A solid phase sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
Application
The assay detects and quantifies the level of STAT1 protein from lysates of human cells or tissues independent of its phosphorylation state. It recognizes both α and β isoforms of STAT1. It does not detect STAT1 from mouse or rat cells. The assay may be used to normalize the STAT1 content of the samples when examining quantities of phosphorylated sites on STAT1 using another Sigma kit Phospho-STAT1 [pTyr701] ELISA (CS0480).
Features and Benefits
STAT1 ELISA is a fast (total time 4 hours), sensitive, and specific alternative to immuniblotting and RIA.
