Application

Genes that are highly conserved and expressed in a wide variety of tissue types are useful as reference “house-keeping” genes. They allow determination of relative expression levels of other genes of interest.

Other Notes

The human ubiquitin cDNA probe is a 2.1-kb fragment containing the complete coding sequence of human poly(ubiquitin). The transcript sizes detected with this probe are 2.3 kb (human) and 1.35 kb (mouse). Minor bands are also observed at 6 kb and 0.6 kb.
