General description

UGT2B7 transfers glucuronide to steroids, morphine, AZT, and retinoic acid.

Unit Definition

One unit will transfer one nanomole of glucuronic acid from uridine-5'-diphosphoglucuronic acid to hyodeoxycholic acid per minute at pH 7.5 at 37 °C.

Physical form

Microsomal fraction in 100 mM potassium phosphate, pH 7.4, 20% (v/v) glycerol, 0.1 mM EDTA, and 1 mM DTT.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The UDP-Glucuronosyltransferases (UGT) comprise a family of enzymes that detoxify and enhance the urinary excretion of a wide variety of xenobiotic and endogenous substrates by transferring glucuronic acid to sulfhydryl, hydroxyl, aromatic amino, or carboxylic acid groups.
