Replica plating grid 

Facilitates manual transfer of colonies when they have overgrown and begun to merge. The center well holds the master plate. Outside wells with grids of 24 or 50 numbered squares hold fresh plates. Samples from the center of each colony in the master are picked with a sterile toothpick and inoculated onto one or more fresh plates. Grids help position the colonies to match the master plate.
