Fluorescent Conjugates for Immunoassays

General Features & Benefits
  • Immunological methods are based upon the competitive binding of labeled ligands versus unlabeled ones on highly specific receptor sites
  • Very important tools for clinical and analytical biochemistry and the analysis of drugs, pesticides, hormones and proteins
  • Outstanding specificity and sensitivity, adaptability to automation & an ability to quantitate an almost limitless number of analytes.
  • Competitive (higher selectivity) and non-competitive (higher sensitivity) immunoassay design

Heterogeneous Immunoassays
  • Physical separation of bound from free labeled analyte. Mostly the analyte or antibody is attached to a solid surface
  • Detection can be direct (only a primary antibody is used) or indirect (a secondary antibody is also used)

Homogenous Immunoassays
  • Fluorescence polarization excitation of fluorochromes
  • Double-antibody fluorophore-labeled antigen reaction with antibodies directed against both the antigen and the fluorophore. Labeled and unlabeled antigens compete for a limited number of anti-antigen antibodies
