Carbohydrate Labels for Chromatography

Advantages of Fluorescent Derivatization:
  • Measured light parameters are positive (light signal is zero in absence of fluorophore)
  • Fluorophoric species are relatively rare in analytical matrices resulting in low background noise levels
  • Detection problems caused by lack of universal detectors for HPLC can be solved partially by UV and fluorescence derivatization techniques
  • High sensitivity
  • Pre-column derivatization offers simplicity and less reagent demand as compared with post-column derivatization
  • Pre- and post-column derivatization techniques are available for both column chromatography and thin layer chromatography, including reversed-phase chromatography (including ion pair chromatography) and ion exchange chromatography (IEC) systems

Our Glyco Profile Labeling Kits are designed for efficient labeling of N-linked, O-linked and glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchored glycans using your choice of 2-aminobenzamide (2-AB) or 2-aminobenzoic acid (anthranilic acid; 2-AA). See our Glycoproteomics Selection Guide for additional details on labeling, detection and quantitation.
