V. ASCARITE II®ADSORBENTS

Ascarite II is the second generation of a traditional brand of carbon dioxide adsorbents. Whereas the original Ascarite was derived from granular asbestos, Ascarite II is a sodium hydroxidecoated silica. It rapidly and quantitatively adsorbs CO2, (and acid gases), and is useful in a number of analytical and microanalytical procedures, physiological studies, etc.

The materials are self-indicating, gradually changing color (to white) within a narrow zone due to the formation of sodium carbonate.
