Organolead

Main-group organometallic complexes find a wide range of applications, one of which is in synthetic chemistry as transfer reagents, under either stoichiometric or catalytic conditions. Organolead compounds, including halogenated organolead derivatives, have wide-ranging chemical properties in common with organotin and organogermanium compounds. Organolead derivatives, containing s, p, d and f electrons, are versatile and highly reactive reagents for nucleophilic aromatic substitutions through the ligand-coupling mechanism. Supramolecular chemistry researchers have taken an interest in characterizing organolead compounds and their self-assembly into chain-like arrays.
