Quinaldine (also called 2-methylquinoline) is a derivative of quinoline, a bicyclic aromatic system with a nitrogen-containing methylated heterocycle fused to a benzene ring. Quinaline derivatives are found in quinaldine-based squaraine dyes, food colorants, antimalaria drugs and other pharmaceuticals. The synthesis of quinaldines from nitrobenzenes can be photocatalyzed by nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide (N-TiO2).
