Spectroscopy Standards for OES and XRF

MBHX-Ray Fluorescence and Optical Emission–Spectroscopy are are widely used in the metal industry and in material control for the determination of the composition and impurity profile of metals and metal alloys.

The new Sigma-Aldrich certified reference materials (CRMs) for spectroscopy are produced in the United Kingdom by MBH Ltd, a recognized manufacturer in the field of spectroscopy reference materials.

Certified values are given for the most relevant impurities for each corresponding metal or alloy. The disks are produced using commercial-purity metals and master alloys. To minimise surface effects, approximately 2mm from the cast faces were removed.
Analysis was carried out on millings taken from samples representative of the product. It was performed by a panel of laboratories mostly operating within the terms of ISO/IEC 17025, using documented standard reference methods and validated by appropriate reference materials ensuring traceability of the results.

Homogeneity was tested by checking sample and batch uniformity using an optical emission spectrometer for at least 15% of all the disks from each batch. The products are delivered together
with a detailed certificate.
