Environmental Testing – Organics

Sample preparation involves partitioning organic pollutants into headspace through a purge process (for volatile organics) or into an organic solvent through an extraction process (for non-volatile organics). A cleanup step to remove interferences and/or a concentration step to increase method sensitivity is usually performed. Analysis typically uses gas chromatography (GC) or high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
