Description

Analysis Note The analysis of low levels of 20 organochlorine pesticides and 2 surrogate compounds by gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD) is routinely performed by analysts in environmental laboratories. Methods require the analysis of each sample extract on two columns with differing selectivity for confirmation of identifications. The SLB-5ms/SLB-35ms pair is an effective column set because all 22 analytes are resolved between both columns using the same run conditions.

This application shows the separation achieved on SLB-35ms. Peaks are well integrated and baselines are exceptionally stable considering the high final oven temperature (340 ºC). Minimal baseline rise is detected, and the last analyte, decachlorobiphenyl, is eluted in less than 20 minutes.
