Description

Analysis Note An cell lysate, produced by destroying the membranes of E. Coli cells, is analyzed on two Zenix gel filtration columns packed with 3 micron particles. The top chromatogram shows the peak profile on a 150 Ã… pore size Zenix SEC-150 gel filtration column, while the bottom chromatogram shows the same sample on a 300 Ã… pore size Zenix SEC-300 column. As expected, the peaks shift to longer retention times on the SEC-300 column. Although roughly the same number of components are visible in each chromatogram, the SEC-150 column does a better job of pulling the peaks apart, which helps when fractions need to be collected for further analysis.
