Sample preparation:
In a 200-ml iodine-number flask place 5 g of hop pellets with 100 ml of water for analysis, close and warm on the waterbath for 60 minutes (about 50 °C). Pour the resulting suspension through a folded filter to remove the undissolved portion.
Dilute the filtrate 1:100 with water for analysis.
 
Analysis:
Determine with the above mentioned test kits.
 
Calculation:
Nitrate content in % = analysis value in mg/l NO3 x 0.2
