Certified Spiking Solutions® for antifungal testing

Antifungal drugs offer critically ill or immunocompromised patients multiple treatment options against invasive fungal infections. Use of triazole antifungal drugs, such as itraconazole, posaconazole, voriconazole, and fluconazole, presents several clinical challenges in addition to their therapeutic benefits including interactions with co-administered drugs, concentration-dependent toxicity, and variations in drug absorption and metabolism.1 Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) for triazole antinfungal drugs is therefore considered to avoid adverse clinical outcomes and to ensure effectiveness of drug regimens.2

Sigma-Aldrich's Cerilliant brand offers Certified Spiking Solutions® of commonly tested antifungals including azole analogs. These Certified Reference Materials are suitable as Snap-N-Spike® starting materials in preparation of calibrators, controls, or linearity standards for LC-MS/MS testing of antifungals in therapeutic drug monitoring or other critical clinical and diagnostic testing applications. The Snap-N-Spike® format allows laboratories to eliminate painstaking weighing operations and provides the ability to spike a known concentration of analyte into their matrix of choice just before use.
