The St. Louis-based Sigma-Aldrich Reading Partners Program is a rewarding community activity that focuses on the educational needs of area youth. Sigma-Aldrich volunteers are paired with students ranging from 2nd through 7th grade at two St. Louis Public Schools. Volunteers and students follow provided curriculum guidelines that are designed to enhance the reading skills of students who have fallen behind their grade level. This enriching program not only assists students with reading, but also leads to great relationships. Reading Partners will start its sixth campaign with the 2009 – 2010 school year. Volunteers can expect to spend an hour at school twice per month.
