AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE
Denver, PA
Friday, June 19th – Saturday, June 20th
ABOUT THE EVENT
The American Cancer Society 2009 "Relay for Life" is a fun-filled, 24-hour community and volunteer-based fundraising event designed to celebrate survivorship and help raise money for research programs for the American Cancer Society.
During this event, teams gather at local schools to take turns walking or running laps. Cancer never stops, therefore, for 24 hours, team members take turns walking the track, symbolizing the life of a cancer patient, while enjoying entertainment and activities.
The event is held at Cocalico High School, Denver, Pennsylvania on Friday, June 19th, starting at 4:00 p.m., and ends on Saturday, June 20th, at 4:00 p.m. Our team is called SAFC BioReacters I. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.
Relay for Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day, cancer will be eliminated. We ask participants to take action: to personally take on a healthier lifestyle, to promote early detection of cancer, to advocate for better coverage for screenings and access to healthcare, to become more involved as a volunteer with the ACS, and to fund the ACS mission.
