Shigemi NMR Microtube Assemblies
These microtube assemblies consist of a small volume inner microtube mounted in a standard size NMR tube. When making measurements with these tubes, the small volume of sample solution is held in the region of the NMR tube length that the NMR coil "sees", without large portions of the sample solution being excluded from the measurement. In addition, the assemblies are magnetic susceptibility matched to four common NMR solvents; D2O, CD3OD, CDCl3 and DMSO.
Small volumes mean it is possible to use increased concentration sample solutions, leading to measurements with improved signal-to-noise ratios and greatly reduced spectrum acquisition times. The solvent matching of these tubes means the small sample size has no significant effect on spectral resolution or sideband.
Protein studies use small sample sizes and low concentration solutions. Shigemi microtubes are ideal for small samples, allowing improved concentrations and they offer great cost savings through reduced spectrometer run-time and quickly pay back the additional expense in buying these specialist microtubes.
- Magnetic susceptibility matched to a variety of solvents for the best resolution in these solvents using a minimal amount of sample
- The small sample size will not affect the spectral resolution or the sidebands
- Each microtube assembly consists of an insert and an outer sample tube

Advanced NMR microtubes
- Thinner glass wall in the sample area than symmetrical microtube (0.20mm vs 0.40mm), increasing the sample capacity held in the Rf region by a factor of 1.2
- 16% better signal to noise ratio than symmetric tubes
- Despite the increased sample volume, artifacts caused by the Rf inhomogeneity is very limited and increased sensitivity is expected
Specifications:
- 5mm o.d. tubes: insert : 190.0 L x 4.1mm o.d.; outer sample tube: 180.0 x 4.965mm.
- 8mm o.d. tubes: insert : 200.0 L x 6.9mm o.d.; outer sample tube: 190.0 x 8.0mm.
*Choose the bottom insert length that matches the probe coil most closely.
