Kodak has been the world leader in the development and manufacture of Autoradiography films for more than 30 years. Kodak films are designed specifically for Autoradiography and Chemiluminescence purposes and Kodak scientists have developed their T-Grain technology, being flatter, more tabular silver halide grains used in some of their BioMax product range, that intercept more radiation, providing enhanced sensitivity, speed and less noticeable grain in the film. With development of intensifying screens, including the innovative Transcreen, Kodak further improved the sensitivity, image quality and resolution that laboratory scientists need.
Sigma-Aldrich has been supplying Kodak Autoradiography and Chemiluminescence products for many years, supporting them with high stock levels, sophisticated logistics, easy-to-use order systems, and fast delivery to provide scientists easy access to the best products for their science. See the focus areas below for an easy-to-read product selection guide.
BioMax Light
Chemiluminescence Film A double emulsion (double-sided) film that provides maximum clarity and sensitivity for detection chemiluminescence. Produces highest signal-to-noise ratio of any Kodak film for detecting chemiluminescence and suitable for use with all chemiluminescence kits.
BioMax MR
Maximum Resolution A single emulsion (single-sided) film that provides maximum resolution and clearest background. Makes readings and digital scanning autoradiograms from sequencing gels easy and accurate.
The most sensitive film for direct 14C, 35S and 33P autoradiography. Higher resolution than BioMax XAR and MS for 32P and 125I direct and screen exposures, but with reduced sensitivity.
BioMax MS
Maximum Sensitivity A double emulsion (double-sided) film on clear base. Extremely sensitive to the light emitted from BioMax intensifying screens. When used with intensifying screens, provides maximum sensitivity for 32P, 125I and other isotopes in Northern, Southern and Dot blot applications. Ideal for low intensity samples or when shorter exposure times needed.
BioMax XAR
General Purpose A double emulsion (double-sided) film on clear base. Very versatile, suitable for use with low and high energy isotopes, or chemiluminescence. Sensitivity with high energy isotopes can be increased by using intensifying screens.
X-OMAT LS
Economic, blue tint A double emulsion (double-sided) film on clear base.
Electron Imaging and Microscopy
BioMax Exposure Cassette
Lightweight, durable, vinyl covered aluminum cassette with locking clip.
BioMax MS Intensifying Screen
BioMax MS Exposure Cassette/Intensifying Screen Set
BioMax Transcreen
Provides improved resolution and maximum sensitivity. Optimised for use with BioMax MS film.
Transcreen system places screen between blot and film, capturing low intensity radiation that does not reach other intensifying screens
BioMax MS Exposure Cassette/Transcreen Set
Contains cassette and Transcreen described above
