Crude Collagenase, Use-Tested

Each of these lyophyllized complete culture medium products has been tested for its ability to prepare physiologically active cells for culture. For isolation of intact pancreatic islets of Langerhans, we offer one type (XI) with very high collagenolytic and FALGPA activity, and one with much lower activities (V), which may be desirable for more gentle digestion. Type II crude collagenase-containing medium prepares physiologically active rat epididymal adipocytes, while type IV has proved suitable for rat hepatocyte cell culture. Type VIII crude collagenase is effective for both adipocyte and hepatocyte isolation. Cultured adipocytes released with Type II and type VII collagenase are tested for their ability to oxidize glucose. All of these crude media contain clostripain, tryptic, and caseinase activity. Researchers can choose preparations of each type that have already been sterilized by filtration.
