HPA026761 Anti-EPCAM antibody produced in rabbit Prestige Antibodies® Powered by Atlas Antibodies, affinity isolated antibody, buffered aqueous glycerol solution Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) might function as a hepatic stem/progenitor cell-specific marker. EpCAM is an oncogene activated by deliverance of its intracellular domain, which is involved in transducing signals into the cell nucleus by associating with elements of the wnt pathway. Since the epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is highly expressed in premalignant hepatic tissues and in a subset of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), it might act as an early biomarker of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). EpCAM gene mutation leads to a rare autosomal recessive diarrheal disorder in infants called congenital tufting enteropathy (CTE). Like other cell adhesion molecules, EpCAM plays a crucial role in cell-cell interaction and it is also associated with tight junction protein, like claudin-7. Experimental studies hypothesize that EpCAM is involved in normal intestinal and crypt villus axis development .
