The peptide Ac-Ala-Glu-Val-Asp-al, or Ac-AEVD-CHO, is an inhibitor of Group III caspases. It acts upon caspases-6, 8, 9, and 10, with particular effectiveness on caspase-6 and caspase-8. The use of Ac-AEVD-CHO in several apotosis studies has been reported.
Ac-Leu-Glu-His-Asp-al, or Ac-LEHD-CHO, is a cell-permeable inhibitor of caspase-9. Its target of action has been proposed to be the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis. Ac-LEHD-CHO has also been postulated to prevent cleavage of caspase-8, and partly to prevent cleavage of caspase-3.
