DHAP

Dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) can be found in a number of metabolic pathways. Most notably DHAP plays a critical role in the glycolysis metabolic pathway. DHAP is produced during the fourth step of glycolysis when aldolase (A8811) splits fructose 1, 6-diphosphate into DHAP and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate.

DHAP is produced during the fourth step of glycolysis when aldolase splits fructose 1, 6-diphosphate into DHAP and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate.

In the fifth step of glycolysis DHAP is rapidly isomerised by triosephosphate isomerase (T6258) into glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate.

In the fifth step of glycolysis DHAP is rapidly isomerised by triosephosphate isomerase into glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate.

DHAP is also involved in the Calvin cycle and the biosynthesis of glycerolipids. Use the Sigma metabolic pathway chart to view all the metabolic pathways that DHAP is involved in.
