ABSTRACT Ethidium bromide is usually removed from DNA purified through a CsCl gradient by repeated extraction with organic solvents. The CsCl is subsequently removed by dialysis or by precipitation. This method is highly effective in removing ethidium bromide from DNA purified by equilibrium centrifugation in CsCl-ethidium bromide gradients.
