PLGA Microspheres and Nanoparticles

Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) particles often serve as a biodegradable and biocompatible platform for drug delivery1. We offer Degradex® PLGA microspheres and nanoparticles from 100 nm to 50 μm in diameter, which are adaptable to a wide array of applications from drug delivery (particle size selected based on the desired features) to cell tracking (nanoparticles that readily enter the cell). They are also available in green fluorescent form with excitation/emission wavelengths (460/500 nm) that are easily applicable to cell microscopy. The surfaces of both plain and fluorescent particles are functionalized with carboxyl groups, which allow covalent attachment of proteins, peptides, antibodies, antigens, and small molecules. Specific applications of pre-formed PLGA particles include:
  • Drug-carrier compatibility testing before drug loading
  • Use as surface-conjugated drug carriers for targeted delivery and increased circulation time
  • Fluorescent Degradex® particles for imaging and diagnostic applications, including cell tracking, phagocytosis studies, fluorescent microscopy, and drug discovery
