Tris(hydroxymethyl)amidomethane surface is an amplified neutral hydroxyl surface based on the tri-functional alcohol tris(hydroxyl methylamine). Surfaces of these PAMAM dendrimers have higher density of hydroxyl groups compared to PAMAM-OH (amidoethanol surface) dendrimers. The neutral alcohol surface groups will be useful where more neutral pH conditions are necessary.
