Vinyl Acetals

Poly(vinyl acetal)s are prepared by reacting aldehydes with poly(vinyl alcohol), which is made by hydrolyzing poly(vinyl acetate). Thus, the polymers contain varying levels of acetal, hydroxy, and acetate functionalities. Polyacetals, such as polyoxymethylene, are listed in the Ethers section.
