Anhydride Monomers

Anhydrides are very versatile as they can undergo condensation reactions to give polyesters, -imides, -ester-amides, and -ester-imides. Unsaturated anhydrides undergo additional polymerization, usually with styrene, acrylics, and vinyl ethers. Anhydrides are also used to make cross-linked, network polymer resins; additional anhydrides commonly used for this application are listed in the Crosslinking Agents and Additives for Epoxides section.
