Epoxide Monomers

Epoxides may be mono- or polyfunctional. They are polymerized by a cationic or an anionic mechanism. Epoxy monomers show very low shrinkage during polymerization, which is thought to contribute to their outstanding adhesion characteristics. Cationic polymerization reaction rates can be increased by the addition of alcohols. Additional epoxide monomers are listed in the Crosslinking Agents and Additives for Epoxides section. Epoxy-functional polymers, which can be used as macromonomers, are found in sections corresponding to the chemistry/functionality of the polymer′s main-chain.
