SAFC Urbana
Manufacturing facility for ultra-pure materials
The SAFC Urbana, Illinois site is dedicated to the manufacture and purification of ultra-pure materials for high technology applications. Products are mainly high-purity inorganic materials used in the fields of crystal growth for scintillators and optics, microelectronics, fuel cells, batteries, and other materials science applications.

The dedicated facility includes R&D, bulk production, analytical laboratories, packaging and a glass shop.

Manufacturing Overview
For high-temperature elemental synthesis and hydrogen reductions of inorganic materials on a gram to multi-kg scale:

5 Large-scale tube furnaces (up to 1200°C)
2 Medium-scale split tube furnaces
5 Small-scale split tube furnaces

For the manufacture (acid/base chemistry) and recrystallization of inorganic materials - grams to multi-ton:
2 Seventy-two liter (72L) rotovaps
2 Twenty-two liter (22L) Buchi rotovaps
