"SAFC Hitech is committed to protecting the environment and the health and safety of all our employees, their families, our customers and the public, and is dedicated to being a leading company in health, safety and environmental issues by continuously improving our performance to benefit employees, customers, shareholders and the community alike."

— A.B. Leese President, SAFC Hitech

As a manufacturer of hazardous chemicals, all aspects of health and safety are of the utmost importance to enable continuity of supply to our valued customers. Our safety philosophy is not merely a statement but a role model for all of our employees to follow. To achieve this goal, a number of techniques are integrated into our manufacturing capabilities and processes.

1. Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP)
HAZOPs identify possible causes of deviation, what the consequences might be and whether the correct safety feature can be installed or is present. The process is normally introduced at the plant design stage by a multi-disciplined team of professionals.

2. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
FTA is primarily designed for product failure and trouble shooting and is characterized by each area of analysis creating its own chain or flow resulting in a fault being identified.

3. Risk Assessment
All tasks follow a risk assessment procedure with the sole purpose of identifying hazards and ensuring control measures are in place to reduce the hazards to an acceptable level.

4. Management of Change (MOC) Procedure
All installations and modifications to the plant and processes have to pass a rigorous procedure of authorization through our MOC process, ultimately resulting in acceptance of legal standards and practices prior to implementation and operation.

5. "What If"
All relevant procedures within our ISO 9002 accredited system carry a "what if" section which subsequently advises operatives as to the action required to eliminate any unexpected problems.

6. Control
All Health & Safety aspects of the company business are audited to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, and to ensure employees are conforming to set procedures.

7. General
As a principle, we actively encourage participation in national working groups engaged in setting occupational sector standards endorsed by national policing authorities. Currently, SAFC Hitech employees are involved in many committees including:

i) Chemical Industry Association
ii) Health and Safety Executive Microelectronics Semiconductor Manufacturing Group
iii) Local Environmental Planning and Control
iv) Responsible Care Group

Our aim is to manufacture and supply products which all parties are confident of using, handling and storing with peace of mind and the knowledge that, within every aspect of the supply chain, the safety of everyone is of prime importance and endorsed by the high standards we set.
