Sera Cell Culture All sera that are sourced from abattoirs in the US are collected at USDA inspected faculties. SAFC performs qualifying and routine audits at serum collection and processing sites. Donor sera are collected from monitored herds, maintained under veterinary care, and deemed healthy and suitable for human consumption. Australian and New Zealand blood product collections are done in AQIS and MAF inspected and qualified facilities. Both Australia and New Zealand are free from Bovine Spongifrom Encephalopathy (BSE) and other diseases such as Foot & Mouth Disease and Rinderpest. Blood is aseptically collected under controlled conditions. Raw serum is immediately pooled and frozen. Thawed serum is filtered thru a series of membranes. Fetal Bovine Serum is filtered thru three 0.1micron filters and pooled All other sera are filtered thru three 0.2 micron filters. Sera are shipped frozen via air in insulated containers with dry ice. A Certificate of Analysis indicating the country of origin is prepared for each lot of serum. SAFC guarantees traceability of serum materials to the point(s) of collection and the dates the whole blood was collected. The list of abattoirs, their identification numbers and collections dates are reviewed by Quality Assurance and retained with the batch record; which can be made available upon customer request. >> Ask us about serum sample evaluation and lot reservations.
