GC Analysis of 1-Phenylethylamine Enantiomers (N-Chloroacetyl Derivatives) on Astec® CHIRALDEX® B-DM

GC Analysis of 1-Phenylethylamine Enantiomers (N-Chloroacetyl Derivatives) on Astec® CHIRALDEX® B-DM

Conditions

column Astec CHIRALDEX B-DM, 30 m x 0.25 mm I.D., 0.12 µm (77023AST)
oven 150 °C
carrier gas helium, 30 psi
sample 3 mg/mL in methylene chloridepeak 1: S(-)-1-phenylethylamine (N-chloroacetyl derivative)peak 2: R(+)-1-phenylethylamine (N-chloroacetyl derivative)
injection 1 µL, 80:1 split
inj. temp. 250 °C
detector FID, 250 °C

Description

Analysis Note Can reverse elution order by using CHIRALDEX G-PN, or by using the N-TFA derivative on the B-DM column. Shorter retention and higher alpha observed with the N-chloroacetyl derivative compared to the N-acetyl derivative.
