Description

Analysis Note The analysis of low levels of 20 organochlorine pesticides and 2 surrogate compounds by gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD) is routinely performed by analysts in environmental laboratories. Methods require the analysis of each sample extract on two columns with differing selectivity for confirmation of identifications. The SLB-5ms/SLB-35ms pair is an effective column set because all 22 analytes are resolved between both columns using the same run conditions.

This applicatin shows the separation achieved on SLB-5ms. Peaks are well integrated and baselines are exceptionally stable considering the high final oven temperature (340 °C). Minimal baseline rise is detected, and the last analyte, decachlorobiphenyl, is eluted in less than 20 minutes.
