Description

Analysis Note Human immunoglobulin A (IgA) can exist in two forms: a monomer (~150 kDa) in the serum and a dimer (~300 kDa) in mucosal secretory tissues. Serum IgA (monomeric) functions as an anti-inflammatory antibody by interacting with CD89 on immune effector cells. Serum IgA was chromatographically analyzed with a BIOshell A400 Protein C4 column. A secondary shoulder can be seen in the peak, indicating impurities and/or other variants may be present in the analytical standard.
