Photometric determination using the iron(III)/mercury thiocyanate method after extraction

Nitric acid 18 %:
Under stirring slowly bring in 45 ml nitric acid 65 % into 150 ml water for analysis.
 
Sample preparation:
Mix about 1000 mg sample of concrete, shredded to a grain-size < 100 mm, with 20 ml nitric acid 18 % for
10 minutes and then heat to moderate boiling for 5 minutes. Boiling of the mixture is particulary important with sulphide-containing material. Filter the cooled solution through a membrane filter.
 
Analysis:
Determine with the above mentioned test kits.
 
Calculation:

Chloride content in %  =   analysis value in mg/l Cl x 2
weight of sample in mg
