Sample preparation:
In a glass beaker treat 100 mg (exactly weighed) of the sample with 7 ml of hydrochloric acid 37 % and 3 ml nitric acid 65 % and evaporate almost to dryness on the steam bath or water bath. The residue should be completely dry, free of acid, crystalline and of a yellowish or greenish color (not dark brown or black).
Dissolve the final residue in about 10 ml water for analysis and transfer to a 1000-ml volumetric flask, into which about 1 - 2 ml hydrochloric acid 37 % has been put.
 
Analysis:
Determine with the above mentioned test kits
 
Calculation:

Copper (total) content in %  =   analysis value in mg/l Cu x 100
weight of sample in mg
