Dr. Ragaiy Zidan of Savannah River National Laboratory kindly suggested that we offer a 1M solution of sodium aluminum hydride in tetrahydrofuran (NaAlH4/THF Aldrich Prod. No. 698865) as a material for alternative energy applications.1 The solution of NaAlH4 in THF is a base-material for advanced energy storage systems. Its electrolysis2 creates aluminum hydride (AlH3), with hydrogen content of 10% by weight and a hydrogen release temperature of ~100°C. This enables the development of low-cost hydrogen storage systems with thermodynamics and kinetics meeting transportation requirements.3
