One parameter that exemplifies this commitment is quality indicator organisms. These organisms indicate potential hazards to the finished products, which can lead to costly product recall.

The term quality indicator organism can be interpreted in a number of ways. It can be used to describe:

  • An index organism to indicate the presence of pathogens.
  • A measure of hygiene level and proper sanitation practices in production facilities.
  • An indicator of the quality of the product during post production.
  • A marker for fecal contamination.
  • An indicator of the presence of organisms that can lead to spoilage.

Auxiliary Products

Chromocult® coliform agar is a selective and differential chromogenic culture medium intended for use in microbiology laboratories analyzing food and water. Within 24 hours, this medium enables the detection, differentiation and enumeration of E. coli and coliforms from drinking water and processed food matrices and has been tested and approved by AOAC and EPA.

Anaerobic, microaerophilic and capnophilic microorganisms, such as campylobacter play a significant role in the food and beverage industries. The Anaerocult® product range includes systems for producing the anaerobic, microaerobic and capneic growth conditions that are required to cultivate these organisms.
