Description

General description

Olfactory receptor 14I1 (UniProt: A6ND48; also known as Olfactory receptor 5BU1) is encoded by the OR14I1 (also known as OR5BU1, OR5BU1P) gene (Gene ID: 401994) in human. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. They interact with odorant molecules in the nose to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. Olfactory receptor 14I1, a part of the type II group of olfactory receptors, is a multi-pass membrane protein with four extracellular domains, seven transmembrane domains, and four cytoplasmic domains. It initiates a cascade of cellular signal transduction events that involves adenylate cyclase and protein kinase A. OR14I1 is also reported to be a host receptor a pentameric complex (gH-gL-UL128-UL130-UL131A) of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). It is required for HCMV attachment, entry, and infection of epithelial cells. Exogenous OR14I1 protein in membrane vesicles or a synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of OR14I1 is shown to block HCMV entry into epithelial cells. Immunogen

Application

Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in Rat brain tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected OR14I1 in Rat brain tissue lysate.

Tested applications

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected OR14I1 in lysates from Mouse brain, Human brain, and SH-SY5Y cells.

Affinity Binding Assay: A representative lot of this antibody bound OR14I1 with a KD of 1.6 x 10-8 in an affinity binding assay.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected OR14I1 in HT1080 cells.

Clone 1C19 is a ZooMAb^® Rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects Olfactory receptor 14I1 (OR14I1). It targets an epitope within 16 amino acids from the N-terminal, extracellular domain.

Physical form

Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 μL.

Preparation Note

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 μL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.

Reconstitute lyophilized antibody pellet with 25μL of ultrapure water or Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS). Please refer to our reconstitution protocol and the specific application guidance on the suggested starting dilutions and sample type.
