Descrição geral

A solução de terc-butóxido de potássio é uma potente base não nucleofílica. Ela é capaz de desprotonar carbono e outros ácidos de Bronsted. Soluções reagentes em terc-BuOh podem ser preparadas pela reação de álcool anidro com potássio em atmosfera de nitrogênio.

Aplicação

A solução de terc-butóxido de potássio (t-BuOK) pode ser usada:
  • como catalisador para a interesterificação de óleo de colza com acetato de metila;
  • para promover rearranjos de Sommelet–-Hauser de ilídeos de amônio derivados de aminoácidos N-benzílicos em condições brandas;
  • como precursor metal-orgânico na síntese de filmes ferroelétricos de KNbO3 pelo método de deposição de vapor químico;
  • para preparar o catalisador de 3-potassiooxametilpiridina;
  • como reagente de base de alcóxido forte.

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.   2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

    1. Yes, the 50mL, 500mL, and 2L sizes are packaged in amber glass bottles with a Sure/Seal cap. The 20L size is packaged in a steel drum.

    1. Item 328650-20L is packaged in a Carbon Steel Drum that includes a 2-in. and a 3/4-in. opening. Each opening is capped and sealed with a polypropylene tamper-evident seal. See the attached image below.

  5. How do I remove Product 328650, Potassium tert-butoxide solution, from the Sure-Seal bottle?

    1. The Sure-Seal bottle has a septum held in place with a metal crimp cap. We would recommend removing the product by piercing the septum and withdrawing the liquid through a syringe to reduce the compound's exposure to air and moisture. We offer a line of non-coring syringe needles that are ideal for piercing septa.

    1. Room temperature storage is acceptable for this solution but we would recommend storing this product under nitrogen. The solution can decompose upon exposure to air or moisture. It also can absorb carbon dioxide from the air which will affect quality of the product.

    1. We do not perform overall purity testing on this solution. The product is prepared with reagent grade potassium tert-butoxide and then titrated  with hydrochloric acid to define the concentration during the quality control analysis.
