Descrição geral

Tween® 80 é um detergente não iônico e surfactante, classificado como éster de sorbitano e ácido oleico. É um composto versátil comumente empregado em várias aplicações biológicas, incluindo lise celular, isolamento de núcleos e fracionamento celular. Além disso, o Tween 80 é utilizado na estabilização de proteínas e na facilitação de estudos de membrana proteica. Sua eficácia se deve ao fato de pertencer ao grupo dos polissorbatos, caracterizado pela combinação de ésteres oleicos de sorbitol e sorbitano com cadeias de polietilenoglicol. Esses recursos estruturais contribuem para os recursos emulsificantes do Tween 80 e uma ampla variedade de aplicações.

Aplicação

Detergente não iônico usado para extração seletiva de proteínas e isolamento de núcleos de linhagens de células de mamíferos.
O TWEEN® 80 foi usado em solução veículo de medicamentos para injeções específicas em camundongos e ratos.[1][2] Ele foi usado para a determinação da atividade da estearase em células bacterianas.[3]

O TWEEN® 80 é um tensoativo de polissorbato que ajuda a estabilizar proteínas e em estudos de membranas proteicas. Ele é regulamente usado para a extração de proteínas de membrana e isolamento de núcleos celulares.[4][5][6]

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.     1. This product is not tested for boiling point. However, various reference sources cite a boiling point of approximately 100°C.

  5. Hello, Is there an expiration date or retest date for this product?

    1. This product is not assigned an expiration date. It is assigned a recommended retest date of approximately 4 years after the quality release date. A recommended retest date is the time during which the product is expected to remain within established stability specifications, provided that it has been stored under defined conditions. After the Retest Date, product samples should be examined to ensure that the product is still in compliance with the established specifications.

    1. Yes. According to Sigma-Aldrich's specifications, Product No. P1754 can appear bright yellow to yellow with a green cast.  Please see our Specification Sheet for more information.

  8. Is Product P1754, TWEEN® 80, sterile?

    1. The product is not sterile. Autoclaving a solution of TWEEN 80 is generally not advised. Sterile filtration is more easily done if the liquid is warmed to about 40°C and alternate portions of hot distilled water and TWEEN 80 are poured through the 0.22 μm filter. The TWEEN 80 will blend and remain in solution.

  9. Is Product P1754, TWEEN® 80, tested for RNase and DNase activity?

    1. No. Product P1754 is not tested for contaminating RNase and DNase activity.  Product P5188 is a Molecular Biology grade product that has been tested for DNase and RNase.
